WHAT
WE DO
PROGRAMS & SERVICES.
ALL PROGRAMS AND SERVICES ARE FREE OF CHARGE!
See below to learn what a difference we make in peoples lives and our community.
Comfort & Community
Upon first entering through the door, our participants are greeted by friends and empathetic staff. Beginning to access our services is as easy as coming in, pouring yourself a cup of coffee and getting comfortable. No one needs to prove anything when they come in, they're simply welcomed. We do not require people to make any changes to themselves before they enter our space and access our services. We meet people where they are at and design the programming around their current needs.
Because we offer so many everyday necessities like food, clothing, showers, laundry, hygiene products, harm reduction supplies, and warm drinks, we have many people access our space on a regular basis who would not otherwise access the other supports that we offer. These include crisis counseling, housing help, and referrals to a wide range of specialized programs in a variety of sectors. We build a relationship with our participants and when they want to access those services, they have someone they trust to help them take that step.
Overnight Warming Centre Pilot
In 2023, Safe 'N Sound was provided with $150,000 in funding from Grey County to help cover costs of extending hours from November 1st, 2023, to March 31st, 2024. We are now able to operate as a 24 hour facility.
Executive Director, Annette Pedlar: “It is our hope that through the coldest months we can provide access to our space, trained staff and resources to prevent the unnecessary harm associated with homelessness in rural winters. Safe 'N Sound is a proud member of the Owen Sound community and we are eager to support our most marginalized neighbours.”
Manager of Housing Programs at Grey County, Josh Gibson: “The services provided by Safe 'N Sound are a great asset to our community. This expanded program will provide increased safety for vulnerable Grey County residents during the cold winter months.”

Transitional Housing Program
The 4 single dwelling units above our drop in space are dedicated to transitional housing. These apartments offer the opportunity for life stabilization and can act as bridge between homelessness and people getting back on their feet again. These units are filled by individuals on the By-Names list through coordinated access and can stay for up to two years. Individuals are supported by our Transitional Housing Support Program Lead in meeting their personal and professional goals.
